Easy Homemade Dog Treat Recipe

I have never considered making homemade “dog” treats.  Nope, really! A usual shopping spree at the pet store is exhausting; trying to find the best healthy treat for my dog.  It is NOT an easy task, nor is it easy on the pocketbook.

Why not just make them myself, how hard can it be?

The homemade treats are fabulous because they are wholesome ingredients – no harmful chemicals.  I promise your dog will love you for it!

Best of all, an incredibly easy homemade treat for your dog with a few easy
ingredients you have on hand in your pantry!

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups uncooked oatmeal

1 large banana

½ cup peanut butter (with NO xylitol)

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Using a food processor, grind your oatmeal
    until powder form.
  3. In a bowl, beat together the banana and
    peanut butter until smooth.
  4. Reserve about a tablespoon of ground
oatmeal and pour the rest into the banana and peanut butter mixture.  Mix until combined well.
  5. Dust your surface with the reserved
ground oats and roll out your dough to about ¼ inch thickness.
  6. Cut into desired shapes (a dog bone shape
    is perfect).
  7. Place on parchment paper lined cookie
    sheet
  8. Bake the treats for approximately 15
minutes, or until the edges start to brown.
  9. Cool completely before storing in an
airtight container for up to a week.
Storing in freezer will an option too.

Check with your vet about any allergies your dog may have.  If you have any concerns with the ingredients in this recipe, please consult with your vet first.
