Industrial Shelving for Small Bathroom

Hi y’all!  We are ready to tackle our half bathroom, this is phase one of our small bathroom project!  Our plan is to install a custom open shelving concept.  We built a two-shelf industrial black pipe style to revive our standard small bathroom.

It is a VERY basic and plain bathroom.  We have a white pedestal sink, standard white toilet and a hanging mirror above the pedestal sink.  The mirror has a grey trim very similar of what you might find at a design center.  Boring!

The wall color is painted with Prestige Agreeable Grey (semi-gloss) and the trim color is painted with Prestige Pure White semi-gloss). We bought this house as a builders spec inventory home.  As you well know, all builder grade homes are basic one color throughout.

Actually, this is perfect for me!  A blank canvas, READY to CREATE!  Turn into something amazing!

Next, is a list of supplies needed for the project and you will be able create the same industrial shelving.

SUPPLIES:

(4) 8-INCH BLACK PIPE ½ INCH thread

(2) 11-INCH BLACK PIPE ½ INCH thread

(2)  4-INCH BLACK PIPE ½ INCH thread

(2) ELBOW FITTING BLACK ½ INCH thread

(2) T-CONNECTOR BLACK ½ INCH tread

(2) BLACK CAPS ½ INCH thread

(4) BLACK PLATES (FLANGE) ½ INCH
thread

(2) PINE WOOD 7 – INCH AND CUT AT
24-INCH

DIRECTIONS:

Prep and sand your wood shelving with 80 grit sandpaper.  Clean surface well.  Stain the shelves with a wood stain MinWax – (weathered oak).  Let dry in between coats.  Two coats of the stain will be needed.  The stain choice, weathered oak appears a light  grey stain against the pine wood grain.  Let dry.

Next, apply a Minwax, Polycryic Protective Finish (clear satin) , with two coats as a sealer to the new stained wood shelves.  If you decide to follow along, choose a color stain or paint grade to compliment your home décor.

It was easier to assemble the black pipe connections prior to installing and anchoring to the wall.  We went with 11-inch pipe for the height between the two shelves.  The 8-inch pipe is holding each shelf.  We added the 4-inch black pipe extension and added a black cap for a finished look.  Mike anchored it to the wall with sheetrock anchors to secure it properly.

Install the finished stained shelves and start decorating!!!!  I am so happy with the new shelves!  The bathroom will make a statement and shout out “THIS IS WAY BETTER!  It was defiantly a different look for my small bathroom REVIVE project!  I have a few other ideas to add more appeal to the bathroom, stay tuned!
