CHOCOLATE CAKE BALLS – YUMMY!

I LOVE chocolate and mix it up with festive and you have FUN cake balls.  I wanted to make a dessert that would bring in the conversation.  This is my first run at making cake balls, it was FUN and I was very happy with the presentation.  Please follow step by step for this easy CAKE BALL RECIPE.

INGREDIENTS

18.25 ounces package Chocolate Cake Mix

16 ounces prepared Whipped Chocolate Frosting

3 ounces bar Chocolate Flavor Confectioners Coating (Candy Melts)

Plastic Cake Pop Sticks

Sprinkles (any color)

Styrofoam holder

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.
  2. When cake is done, crumble while warm into a large bowl.
  3. Stir in whipped chocolate frosting with the crumbled cake and mix well.
  4. Form 2 – inch balls from the batter and refrigerate for 4 hours.
  5. Melt chocolate bars in a double broiler pan or use a glass bowl on a pan of boiling water
  6. Insert sticks in each chilled balls and insert in warm melted chocolate.
  7. Sprinkle cake balls with any colored sprinkles.
  8. Gently let the cake balls cool.  (a block of Styrofoam makes a really great holder to stick the cake pops in while they are cooling).
