Hi Ya’ll! I enjoy a glass of wine after work! It is nice to relax and sip on a Cabernet Sauvignon and tune out the stress of my day. I find in the Texas summers, a refreshing chilled glass of Moscato, a white and bubbly wine. Just a hint of sweetness!
The fascination and impulse to save the wine corks, as they differ in texture and color. The corks were tossed in a bright red vase and the sea of corks grew and grew.
An IDEA was born for a crafty DIY idea to repurpose the wine corks.
Follow a few simple steps to create your next project:
- At a craft store, the selection for a 6-inch x 8-inch rectangle wood plaque will work perfect for repurposing the corks.
- The wood plaque is smooth with a pre-sanded surface. The stain used was MinWax Wood Finishing (Dark Walnut 2716) for a natural look.
- The foam brushes works well when applying the stain on smooth wood surfaces. Next, apply one coat of stain and make sure it is evenly applied. Let dry completely. If you want your wood project darker, apply another coat of stain.
- Next, arrange the wine corks in the inlay before you glue it. If some of the cork pieces need to be cut to fit properly, use a knife. Once, the layout is complete, continue by using Titebond Original Wood Glue to glue piece by piece. Let it dry completely.
- It turned out AWESOME! It was fun and creative, so enjoy your project! Don’t forget to let your creative juices flow!!
