  1. Granite is very durable, and a natural product found in whole slabs in a mountain terrain
  2. The natural stone can handle heat from hot pans placed on surfaces
  3. The process to keep surface clean, by using wipes or spray to clean all surfaces
  4. It can sustain from everyday use and will be hard to scratch the surface
  5. You could cut on the surface as the stone is durable to handle; however it could over time dull your knives.  Recommended to use a chopping board.
  6. Granite is less expensive than Quartz

5 CON’S of GRANITE

  1. The Granite surface will need to be sealed due to daily usage for long term care
  2. It’s subject to staining with food products if spilled; example red wine or grease if left on the surface too long
  3. If a heavy object is dropped, it may damage or chip surface top
  4. The seams could stand out if not properly installed, always hire a good installer to perfect a seamless counter top
  5. The granite is not uniform of color or appearance, not two slabs are the same.  If it’s a large job, it will be challenging to match counter tops; if they are in the same continuous layout

  1. Quartz can sustain from stains because of a non–porous material
  2. The surface cleans easily, being it’s  non-porous it will not harbor bacteria or viruses
  3. Quartz does not need to be sealed vs a natural stone
  4. For a manufactured stone product, it’s easier to match colors and patterns and a wide selection of options
  5. Quartz is a popular choice for modern or contemporary styles

6 CON’S of QUARTZ

  1. Quartz is more expensive vs Granite
  2. It is a manufactured product made with a resin product
  3. The Quartz is not heat tolerant, do not put hot pans on countertops, it could cause damage
  4. Quartz can scratch easily, do not cut on the surface, use a cutting board
  5. After installation, it is known the seams to show easily and hard to disguise
  6. If exposed to direct sunlight, can fade surface, and overtime cause a color difference
