Does your house have enough safety features for our beloved young children? If you invest a few household safety measures in your home with just a few simple education tips, it will protect your kids from any future harm.
Education TIP #1 – Protect the corners of Furniture
The home décor in your home may be glamorous but when it comes to small children; the corners of table, counters, coffee tables, and fireplace mantels to name a few are head level of a child. The injury to the child could be an emergency room visit.
SOLUTION: If you decide to select new furniture,; select rounded edges will help minimize the damage when a child comes into contact with it. Another solution, add temporary protective bumpers to the “sharp corners” to help aid in unknown accidents for your young toddler at home.
Education TIP #2 – Watch your CHILD around Water
A swimming pool are the largest concern for safety for your child. There are measures to be taken to fence, gated with self-closing locks to keep children from entering the pool area. This eliminates any unknown accidents, add alarms and security systems. A responsible adult will be present at all times when the child wants to have swim time in the pool.
OTHER WET AREAS:
- 1) Secure toilet locks on all bathroom toilets.
- 2) Make sure all buckets, sinks, or kid’s kiddy pools are empty when not in use.
- 3) Never leave children alone while bathing in the bathtub.
Education TIP #3 – Safety Test your Home
Main Living Areas: In new homes, the outlets installed are childproof, however, older homes, will need to install plastic outlet inserts. If you have décor rugs through your home, add a non-slip pad underneath the rug to prevent rug from slipping.
Laundry Rooms: The laundry detergent is put in a cabinet and out of reach for children. Most wash machines while running a cycle in locked mode. If you have a reasonable old washing machine, you will need to invest in locks for your machine.
Garage Areas: The garage area is dangerous for children. Make sure all dangerous fertilizers, fuel, oil or any dangerous substances and objects are locked in cabinets. This will help secure the dangerous chemicals away and keep children safe.
Kitchen Area: Make sure you keep sharp objects and supplies in a locked cabinet. It is necessary to make sure small appliances are unplugged, to prevent a dangerous situation for a child left unattended and avoid any unnecessary injury.
Bedroom Areas: Make sure you secure bookcases and dressers to the wall. As you know your child may be a climber and if not secured to wall, could fall and injury the child.
